Students can stay on track toward their college degree by taking advantage of free online courses developed by Modern States Education Alliance and its newly launched program, NH x Freshman Year for Free.
COVID-19 impacted students worldwide. Senior years were interrupted and college plans for the fall were put on hold for many. NH x Freshman Year for Free aims to help New Hampshire high school students remain on the path to college during this time of uncertainty. It can help college-bound students save up to 25% on the cost of college.
NH x Freshman Year for Free is offered by Modern States, a NYC-based philanthropy which helps make college more affordable and accessible. Its free online courses are self-paced and prepare students for College Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams in many subject areas.
Modern States offers tuition-free online courses, taught by college professors, that can lead to college credit. There are 32 courses available – view them all here.
The CLEP exams, administered by the College Board, are accepted for credit by more than 2,900 colleges and universities. NH x FYFF participants are encouraged to see which courses their college(s) of interest will accept for credit and enroll in courses accordingly; learners can take more than one at a time if they would like.
Modern States is America’s leading free college program. It is entirely free for students with no barrier to entry and provides a great opportunity for learners to prepare for CLEP exams and earn real college credit, free of charge. Taught by college professors from top universities, this digital public library of courses is a great resource for students looking to further their education at their own pace.
Courses, textbooks and all related materials are free. There is zero cost to participate. Teachers, college counselors and other educators from across New Hampshire schools are serving as mentors.
There are no prerequisites for the thirty-two courses that are available, and all are self-paced. After completing the coursework and practice questions, request a voucher from Modern States to pay for your CLEP exam.
By participating in NH x Freshman Year for Free students can stay on track for college.
